When a person asks me what does our company do? I say: “We produce pneumatic products.” The majority of the time, that is met with a puzzled look. Few people know what that is. So I usually go on to explain what a pneumatics system is.
The laymen’s definition would be an air compression unit. Pneumatic fluid power uses compressed air instead of electricity or oil to power up automated equipment. It has built-in air storage that it relies on to push in air under pressure into an enclosed space.
You can find pneumatics systems in a lot of surprisingly common places. You might see a system in your dentist’s office – in a patient chair, or in a car lift in a mechanic’s garage.
One of the key reasons a pneumatics system is used in so many applications is because of its simplicity and flexibility. Parts are interchangeable between systems and can be adapted to fit the needs of the application. Pneumatic components also use less power than its electric or oil counterparts. This, in turn, can lower utility costs, so the systems can be very economical to operate.
Pneumatics systems are easy to transmit power to a point that is smaller in size than not be possible with the equivalence of an electrical system. This is accomplished by supplying the power at a fixed point by using a pump or compressor connected by flexible tubes at the point of use. This differs from electrical systems, where the power is supplied by a battery and the point of power is provided by a motor or linear drive.
Pneumatics systems are a great alternative to electrical units. You can save more on cost per unit and it is more efficient than electrical systems.
At TPC Automation, we offer all the pneumatics automation components you might need for a pneumatics system. They include fittings, F.R.L’s (filter, regulator, lubricator), cylinders, and tubings.
At TPC Automation, our mission to educate our customers to the best of our abilities.
What separates us from the competition is our customer service and we guarantee that you will speak to one of our sales representatives and not an automated machine.
